3D Creator FreeScan – free movable, handheld 3D Scanner for efficient 3D DigitizingRevXperts presented on the EuroMold 08 two new models of the 3D Creator FreeScan which allows realising fast and efficient Reverse Engineering tasks as well as tactile and touch less 3D Inspection applications. The user has the choice between several established and powerful integrated software packages, like GeoMagic, PolyWorks, 3D Reshaper and PointMaster.
The systems are modular and therefore easy to transport and flexible to use, even direct in the process line, at the machine or in vehicles. Depending on the selected sensor unit the user gets an optimal adopted working space in order to scan fast and easily even complex objects. Based on the tasks the 3D Creator FreeScan is usable either with the scanner module Shapetracer from Knotenpunkt or with the Zephyr KZ50 from Kreon. In any case it is possible to use the free movable touch probe for taking single point measuring of geometric elements. This common system base allows using a single software package for scanning and measuring and reduces the costs for logistics and training.
The 3D Creator FreeScan produces directly the 3D values of the scanned surfaces. For this the free movable scanner has integrated actively flashing emitters, which are detected accurately by the high resolution cameras of the senor unit. Herewith the coordinates and vectors of the scanner are known in real time and can be synchronised with the 2D information of the scanned surface. The 3D Creator FreeScan can easily be used in the large working space and provides exact 3D scan data.
The 3D Creator consists of the sensor unit, the control unit wit a USB connection to the notebook, the free movable, handheld scanner with attached active emitters which is synchronised by the control unit and has a direct USB line to the notebook. I addition each system carries a wireless touch probe with charger station. The system is packed in a handy transport case and allows a mobile usage.
The 3D Creator FreeScan can be used for Reverse Engineering tasks with powerful software for point cloud handling, for surface reconstruction and for 3D analysis tools. For inspection tasks there are software packages integrated which have direct CAD interfaces and allow a fast and efficient comparison between test part and CAD model.
