3D Creator FreeScan - free movable, handheld Scanner for efficient 3D Digitizing in Reverse Engineering – 3D Inspection – CAD Comparison

System concept

The 3D Creator FreeScan is designed with the optical, infrared measuring system 3D Creator and a line scanner which is assembled with infrared emitters. The sensor unit receives the infrared signals and can exactly define the 3D position of the handheld scanner unit or touch probe, which are moved in the large working space of the 3D Creator. The scanner and the 3D Creator are calibrated in the same coordinate system and synchronized with a joint trigger signal. The resulting 3D values can be directly transferred into one of several possible application packages which are running with the 3D Creator FreeScan.

System Configuration

The 3D Creator FreeScan system is build of the sensor and the control unit of the 3D Creator and a scanner unit which is assembled with actively flashing infrared emitters. Synchronisation is realized by a special trigger signal between the control unit and the scanner unit. The scanner unit and the control unit are both connected with USB line to the PC or Notebook. All application packages are running on the PC or Notebook. The system can additionally be used which the free movable touch probe.

Software

The user has the choice between several established and powerful integrated software packages, like GeoMagic, PolyWorks, 3D Reshaper and PointMaster
